Sarah Silverman began her career as a stand-up comedian at Boston-based Stitches at age 17. From then on, she toured around the country for various comedy gigs, until she was discovered to appear on “Saturday Night Live” at age 22. Although Sarah Silverman appeared on the show from 1993 to 1994, she became out of a job after being censored for her jokes on SNL. Silverman then went back to performing stand-up and landing guest appearances on various TV shows such as “Seinfeld,” “Star Trek: Voyager,” “Mr. Show with Bob and David,” and “The Naked Truth” in the late 1990s.

Sarah Silverman also appeared on HBO’s “The Larry Sanders Show” From 1996 to 1998 and made her movie debut in the satire film “Who’s the Caboose?” During this time, Sarah Silverman also landed small roles on various Hollywood comedies such as “There’s Something About Mary,” “Bulworth,” and “The Bachelor.” In 2001, Sarah Silverman landed a regular role as Alison Kaiser on the FOX show “Greg the Bunny.” That same year, she had small roles on comedy movies such as “Evolution,” and “Heartbreakers.” Also in 2001, Silverman joined the Comedy Central’s Friar’s Club Roast of Hugh Hefner.

From 2003 to 2005, Sarah Silverman juggled work in stand-up comedies, TV sitcoms and comedy films. She appeared in the Comedy Central improv crank callers “Crank Yankers,” on the comedy feature “School of Rock,” on the 2005 documentary “The Aristocrats,” and animated series “American Dad” and “Drawn Together.” Sarah Silverman also competed on Bravo’s “Celebrity Poker Showdown,” followed by a role in the movie adaptation of Broadway’s “Rent” and starred in her own comedy concert movie “Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic” in 2005.

In 2007, Sarah Silverman starred on her sitcom called “The Sarah Silverman Program,” where she plays a fictionalized version of herself. That same year, she hosted the MTV Music Awards, was featured on a GAP ad campaign and appeared on comedian Jeff Garlin’s movie debut “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With.”

In 2008, Sarah Silverman made two memorable guest appearances – one on her then-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in celebration of the show’s fifth anniversary and the other on the hit USA Network comedy series “Monk.” Silverman earned an Emmy nomination “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series” for her work on Monk, but took home an Emmy award for “Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics” for her appearance at Jimmy Kimmel Live. In 2009, she received another Emmy nomination for her show “The Sarah Silverman Show.”
